PURPOSE:To give optical fibers extra length and to prevent an optical cable from rupturing when drawn by bundling optical fibers while twisting them in such a direction that the pitch of grooves become short, and then releasing them from being twisted. CONSTITUTION:A slot 12 is taken up while twisted in such a direction that the pitch becomes short. Namely, the slot 12 is sent out of a bobbin 41, passed through a ferrule 26, and taken up around the bobbin 42. At this time, when it is taken up while the bobbin 42 is rotated as shown by an arrow 46, the slot 12 is twisted nearby the ferrule 26 and the pitch varies from p0 to p1(p0>p1). Then, optical fibers 16 are bundled around the slot 12 whose pitch is varied to p1 and then taken up around a bobbin 43. Then, the slot 12 is sent out of the bobbin 43, passed through the ferrule 26, and taken up around a bobbin 44. At this time, the bobbin 44 is rotated as shown by an arrow 48 to return the pitch of the slot 12 to p0 (where the slot 12 is applied with no stress). |
