The veranda has a double glazed facade (2), a low pitch roof (3) with integral solar captor (11), a sill fixing it to the building wall and a sill (6) carried by the facade framework (7). Light rays (36) strike the facade and preheat the air which is then sent to the roof captor for more heating. When the air temp. as detected by a thermostat (35) is too low, a circulator (33) distributes the warmed air back to the facade interior and the solar captor repeatedly to attain the temp. required. When the air reaches a required temp. a distributor (29) sends it to a store (32).
