PURPOSE:To obtain a composite material which exhibits high toughness at any high temp. in the stage of welding and fixing steel plates consisting of >=2 sheets of combinations to each other to produce a composite material, by controlling the hardness of weld metal. CONSTITUTION:Steel plates consisting of >=2 sheets of combinations wherein the plates are superposed are welded in such a way that the hardness of weld metals 1, 1' with respect to the hardness on the base metal 2, 2' side wherein the hardness of the steel plates is weight-averaged attains the weight-averaged hardness on the base metal side or below in the stage of welding and fixing the steel plates and producing a composite material. The steel plates are constituted to the relation d/50<=T<=10W wherein the spacing between the adjacent weld metal parts near the center of the entire thickness is designated as (d) and the width of the weld metals near the center of the entire thickness as W and the plate thickness as T. The composite material having high toughness even in the temp. region of an ordinary temp. or below is thus obtained. |
