The invention relates to a dust-binding agent by which the dust on industrial roads with heavy traffic (cement factories, open-cast coal mines, quarries, ceramic industry) can be bound for a period of several weeks. The emulsion according to the invention consists of 10-32 % by volume of an emulsifiable mineral oil, 0.05-1.00 % by volume of carboxymethylcellulose, 0.1-0.8 % by volume of an ionic or non-ionic wetting agent, 8-49 % by volume of plasticiser, 39-55 % by volume of water and, if desired, up to 3 % by volume of water glass. The emulsion is sprayed onto the road area to be treated and has seeped away after 2-3 hours. The treated area is revived once per day by sprinkling with water, thus lengthening the duration of action. The treatment lowers the dust content of the air to less than 1 % of its original value, and, even after 12 weeks, it is only about 10 % of the original value. |
