PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet printer which can avoid ultraviolet light from an ultraviolet irradiation device with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer is characterised in that an image is recorded onto a recording medium P by discharging an ultraviolet curing type ink from a nozzle 18 set at a nozzle face 17 of a recording head 11, and the recorded image is hardened by casting the ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet irradiation device. And also, it is characterised in that mask plates 19, 29, 30, 33, 36, 40 and 42 are set at the nozzle face 17 of the recording head 11. When the mask plate 19 has a thickness t and a width w, and an interval between the nozzle face 17 and a medium transfer belt 20 upper face is L, W>8×(L-t) is held. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
