PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment method for inexpensively and efficiently oxidizing metal ions in water to be treated at ordinary temperature under a low pH condition. SOLUTION: When metal ions contained in water to be treated are subjected to oxidation treatment at ordinary temperature, a nitrite is added to the water to be treated as an oxidizing agent to oxidize the metal ions in the water to be treated.
