<p>1. Process for the preparation of ceric carboxylates, characterised in that, in a first step, oxidation of a cerous carboxylate is carried out with hydrogen peroxide, in a two-phase system consisting, on the one hand, of an aqueous hydrogen peroxide phase, whose pH value is at least 6 and, on the other hand, an organic phase consisting of a solution of cerous carboxylate in a hydrocarbon solvent, the oxidation converts the cerous ion to ceric ion and results in the formation of a solution of ceric carboxylate in the hydrocarbon solvent ; in a second step the reaction mixture is heated to a temperature at which ceric hydrogen peroxide complexes which may be present are decomposed and, in a third step, the organic phase containing the ceric carboxylate is separated from the aqueous phase of the reaction mixture.</p> |
