PURPOSE:To obtain a superior carrier having a stable acceptance potential, by coating carrier core particles with 1,4-cispolybutadiene or its cyclic copolymer contg. 1,4-butadiene units in a specified proportion or more, with an org. peroxide added. CONSTITUTION:1,2-Cispolybutadiene or its cyclic copolymer having >=50% 1,4- butadiene units in the polymer chain is dissolved in trichloroethylene, and 0.1- 10pts.wt. org. peroxide is added per 100pts.wt. of said polymer. Carrier core particles of spherical iron powder having 100-200mum average particle diameter are coated with this obtd. coating soln., and after drying, it is heat hardened at about 190 deg.C for 2hr to form a 0.1-10mum thick coat layers on the particle surfaces, thus obtaining a carrier prevented from peeling and toner filming, and having good adhesion to the core particles, and stable acceptance potential. Resistance to toner filming, etc. are further enhanced by using an iron powder having about 10mum deep recesses on the surfaces of the carrier core particles and the total opening areas of the recesses amounting to about 50% of the total surface area of the carrier. |
