The invention relates to an electrical lamp unit for traffic signal lights or other light signalling devices. In order to make the operating state of the lamp unit more clearly recognisable, according to the invention the said unit comprises a plurality of LEDs (15) which are mounted at a small distance from one another in a wall (14) of a lamp housing (10), specifically in positions in which they protrude through in each case one associated opening in this wall (14).
