PURPOSE:To prevent the play of a sterring wheel from generating by a structure wherein a locking mechanism is provided at the threaded part of a tilting steering mechanism part. CONSTITUTION:A steering shaft 15 is arranged within a column tube 14 and a column part 11 is vertically tiltably mounted to the tilting steering mechanism part 12 by means of a pin 16. One end of a link 17 is attached to the column part 11 by means of a pin 18, while the other end of the link 17 is attached to a feed nut 19 by means of a pin 20. A feed screw 21 driven by a motor 24 is piercingly screwed into the feed nut 19. Furthermore, a lock nut 22, on which a projection 22a is formed so as to attach a shaft 25 thereto, is piercingly screwed onto the feed screw 21. The shaft 25 is jointed to the projection with recess 26a of a plate 26 pivotally supported onto the feed screw 21. A spring 27 is provided between the concave projection 26a and a body 28, while a wiring connected to a solenoid 31 is mounted on the plate 26. |
