<p>PURPOSE:To improve the operation performance by controlling a sub-intake valve so as to be closed when an engine is cold and allowing the fuel supplied into a main side port to smoothly flow into a cylinder, in the captioned apparatus which is equipped with a main and a sub-intake valves and in which fuel is injected into only the main side port. CONSTITUTION:During the normal operation, intake gas is supplied into a combustion chamber through a main and a sub-intake passages 4 and 5 and a main and a sub-intake valves 1 and 2, and the fuel is injected into the port part of the main intake passage 4 from an injector 8. While, when the cooling water temperature is below a set temperature x deg.C during the warming process, for example immediately after cold start, a solenoid 31 is excited, and a lever 29 swings around a pin 30. A blocking rotor 21 is turned by about 90 deg. arround a valve shaft 16 through a pin 27 by the above-mentioned swing of the lever 29. Therefore, engagement between a small projection 22a formed on the rotor 21 and the hook 23a of a swing arm 23 is released, and the sub-intake valve 2 is locked in the closed state without being influenced by the action of a cam 20.</p> |
