A building element comprising a board component having transverse stiffening bars is filled between the bars with a filling material e.g. polyurethane foam from an applicator head. The building element is moved at a uniform speed in a direction perpendicular to the bars and the applicator head moved at a similar uniform speed in the same direction above the moving building element, and also executes a reciprocating motion above the moving element and parallel to the bars, while at the end of each traverse moving back rapidly in the opposite direction to the building element, whereby successive and contiguous lines of filler material are deposited on the board component between adjacent stiffening bars. The invention also provides apparatus for carrying out the process, wherein for example a building element is moved on a rolling conveyor. The process and apparatus may be controlled by automatic control means. |
