PURPOSE:To enable optimal control of an exhaust turbo from low to high speed, by providing means for varying the manifold volume in accordance to the operating condition of engine in the exhaust path conducting between the exhaust manifold and exhaust turbo. CONSTITUTION:An engine 1 is equipped with an exhaust turbo 3 while comprising a turbine 4 to be connected to an exhaust manifold 4 through an exhaust path 7, and a compressor 5 to be rotated by said turbine 4 to supply air to an intake manifold 6. Here a volume container 9 is provided in the exhaust path 7 while a piston 10 to be stroked by the exhaust pressure P3 is provided in it and pressed against the exhaust pressure P3 by a spring 11. In the high speed region of the engine 1, the piston 10 is pressed against the spring 11 by the exhaust pressure P3 to open said container 9. Consequently the exhaust energy to the turbine 4 is regulated thus to prevent the increase of rotation and temperature of the turbine 4. |
