PURPOSE:To perform soaking of round billets efficiently with smaller heat energy in the stage of soaking the many round billets in a soaking pit, by using skids having concave parts for supporting the round billets thereby stacking the round billets stably in plural stages. CONSTITUTION:Skids 4 provided with concave parts 5 for supporting many round billets 2 on the top surface are used in the stage of soaking the round billets 2 in a soaking pit 1. The round billets are supported stably in the parts 5 of the skids 4, and the skids are stacked into plural stages, then the billets are heated, whereby a large number of the billets 2 can be loaded without collapsion; therefore, the many round billets are soaked efficiently at one time with smaller heat energy. The shape of the parts 5 for supporting the skids 4 may be either of a semicircular or V-shape, and if the concane parts into which the round billets in the lower stages fit are provided on the bottom surfaces of the skids 4 as well, the round billets are loaded with higher safety. |
