PURPOSE:To attain accurate program-search quickly without wear of a disc, by driving a stylus in the elevating state at high speed when a desired position on the disc and the position of stylus are apart from each other, and slide-contacting the stylus near the desired position. CONSTITUTION:A code signal is converted into the playing time in the unit of minute, 10-second and 1-second at a time conversion circuit 17 and supplied to a selector SL21. The desired position is designated at the position in terms of minute and second from a key-board 22, and the minute unit data is suitably corrected at a compensation circuit 27, and the result is supplied to an SL28. SLs 21, 28 select the minute unit data by setting it to the play state for comparison. When the result of comparison is large, an end counter 30 goes to the initial state, and the stylus is lifted up and a comparison circuit 29 transmits a high speed driving signal. When the minute unit data is coincident, the SLs 21, 28 give a 10-second unit data to the comparator 29 by the end counter 30. The stylus 32 falls down and slide-contacts the disc in the 32-times of speed. Further, processing is exected also by the 1-second unit data, and the constant speed feeding state is held.
