NUCLEAR FUEL ASSEMBLY

Nuclear fuel arrangement comprises an outer cover which forms a channel divided up by bent plates to form separate sections, each contg. fuel rods. The plates are arranged so that a central channel is formed for undercooled moderator. The plates are fixed to longitudinal strengthening bars which have openings along their length. Arrangement reduces the tendency for the central region of the fuel to become under moderated. (Provisional Basic previously advised in Week 8403)
