<p>The steriliser takes the form of a vertical, cylindrical open-topped vessel in which the jars are supported on a perforated, false bottom. The top of the vessel is closable by a cover pivoted on a detachable hinge to come down on a circumferential seal where it is clamped by a swinging clamp pivoted opposite the hinge. Pref. an electric heating element is installed beneath the false bottom together with a temp. sensor wired to an adjustable thermostat which controls the element. The steriliser is for small-scale, partic. domestic sterilisation of a ten jars batch of food prod. The steriliser requires no attention from start-up to discharge. Sterilising/cooking time is short and chamber pressure is restored to atmospheric before the opening signal is given.</p> |
