PRODUCTION OF COMPOSITE STRUCTURAL PIPE

PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a composite structural pipe and to assure the safety of operation, by progressing thermit reaction continuously and partially in a base pipe in parallel with spraying of a thermit mixture. CONSTITUTION:A boom-like member 5 is inserted into a base pipe 1 under high speed rotation and a thermit mixture 2 is discharged from one end thereof. The member 5 is moved forward or backward in the pipe 1 to spray the thermit mixture 2 continuously. On the other hand, the mixture 2 is fired 7 at one end on the inside surface of the pipe 1 right after the start of spraying of the mixture 2 or after a suitable timing. The thermit reaction on the inside surface of the pipe 1 is thereby started and progressed continuously and partially in the longitudinal direction so as to follow up the spraying position in parallel with the spraying of the mixture 2. The instantaneous concentration phenomenon of reaction heat is thus averted and inconvenience problems in terms of safety such as the deformation of the base pipe and the change in the component structure occuring in said phenomenon are eliminated.
