<p>PURPOSE:To prepare the titled compound useful as a hypotensor, etc., easily, in high yield and purity, by using novel N-isopropyl-2-hydroxy-3-(4-indoloxy)propionamide as the raw material, and reacting the material with an organometallic reducing agent. CONSTITUTION:The N-isopropyl-2-hydroxy-3-(4-indoloxy)propionamide which is a novel compound useful as an intermediate for the preparation of pindlol, is used as a starting compound, and is made to react with an organometallic reducing agent preferably in a solvent such as tetrahydrofuran in an inert gas stream at a temperature between 0 deg.C and the boiling point of the solvent, preferably at 0-60 deg.C for 3-6hr to obtain the objective compound having beta-receptor blocking activity. The organometallic reducing agent is preferably NaBH4, Li[AlH4], etc., or their combination with trifluoroboron ethyl ether, AlCl3, etc. USE:Remedy for abnormal extracystole.</p> |
