<p>Perforated, rigid sheet, pref. in stainless steel or plastic, is fixed above the outlet to form a false bottom to the tank. The perforated sheet is spaced from the tank interior except at the edges of the sheet which are sealed to the tank. This means that there is an open space enclosed between the perforated sheet and tank interior, this space including the drainage outlet. Pref. the tank is equipped with an agitator for treatment liq. Pref. the perforated sheet is formed to follow the contour of the tank interior although the two are spaced apart. Support blocks are pref. inserted between the tank interior and the perforated sheet. The tank is used for treating by soaking, partic. tanning, sheets of hide or leather. Treatment is frequently by aggressive liqs. and it is better to drain out the tank at the bottom than to overflow the liq. by flooding with water. Bottom outlets have previously been troublesome by becoming blocked with soaking sheets.</p> |
