PURPOSE:To improve S/N characteristics to an object having low illuminance, to facilitate signal processing, and to obtain a small-sized image pickup device, by improving the constitution of a color mosaic filter in use. CONSTITUTION:The color mosaic filter used for the color image pickup device is divided into two for every picture elements 401 of a solid-state image pickup element and a color filter 402 for allowing magenta light to pass through it and a color filter 404 for allowing red light to pass through it are arranged for the 1st picture elements of a line nH. Further, a color filter 403 for allowing cyane light to pass through it and a color filter 406 for allowing green light to pass through it are arranged for the 2nd picture element and similarly respective color filters are arranged successively in the horizontal direction. Further, the filter 402 and a color filter 405 for allowing blue light to pass through it are arranged for the 1st picture element of a line (n+1)H, and a color filter 407 for allowing yellow light to pass through it and the filter 406 are arranged for the 2nd picture element; and filters are arranged successively in the same way. Then, the low frequency components of color signals obtained from lines nH and (1+n)H are made coincident with each other to improve S/N characteristics. |
