A corner building block and separating building block is provided with an inner and an outer block part, which are connected to one another by block webs extending in the vertical direction, with a heat-insulating layer between the inner and the outer block part and with vertical holes, perforations or slots in the inner and the outer block part. The two block parts are connected to one another not only by block webs, passing through the heat-insulating layer, on each abutting side, but also by in each case one outer web which extends at least approximately over the entire block height. At least some of the holes, perforations or slots in the inner block part can be provided with a heat-insulating layer. In this case, at least some of the slots, provided for separating the block and running parallel to the abutting sides of the block can be provided with a heat-insulating layer.
