The invention relates to a packaging machine for filling material, such as chocolates. The packaging machine has two conveyors, of which one conveyor transports the packaging containers to a filling station and away from this and the second conveyor conveys the piece goods transversely relative to the conveying direction of the first conveyor to a point above the respective packaging container. In this position, the piece goods are grasped and retained by a gripper, whilst the conveyor is retracted. Subsequently, the gripper deflects the piece goods and deposits them at the desired location in the packaging container. <IMAGE>
