The invention relates to medical technology. The instrument contains an elongate housing (1) having a working area (2) on the distal end. A device (6) for delivering the clamp-forming wire (7) in the working area (2) of the housing (1), a device (8) for forming U-shaped clamps from clamp-forming wire (7) and a device (9) for reshaping the U-shaped clamps to give rectangular clamps, which are kinematically connected to each other, are assembled inside the housing (1). The device (9) contains a push-on slide (10) and a stop (12). The push-on slide (10) is connected to a drive (11) for reciprocal displacement in the longitudinal axis of the housing (1) and has a working part designed as two V-shaped shoulders (13). The stop (12) is arranged so as to be guidable out of the plane of movement of the push-on slide (10) in the working area (2) of the housing (1) perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis thereof in the plane of movement of the push-on slide (10). The stop (12) has a length which is smaller than the transverse side of the U-shaped clamp. The invention is particularly suitable for use in surgical interventions for application of sutures at different organs and soft tissues of the human body. <IMAGE>
