The invention relates to a monitoring arrangement for detecting and locating leakage points on vessels, such as tanks, pipelines, especially pipelines laid in the ground, or the like, which contain liquid hydrocarbons, e.g. benzine, kerosene etc. Because of the high risk of fire with hydrocarbons, monitoring arrangements can be installed only given very high expenditure. It is the object of the invention to provide a monitoring arrangement which permits leakage points on vessels, e.g. pipelines, charged with liquid hydrocarbons to be located and detected quickly, reliably and while observing the safety regulations, with the aid of simple, cost-effective and relatively maintenance-free means. This object is achieved according to the invention when at least one hollow conduit, which can be charged with a pressurised medium and is made from a material that is not resistant to hydrocarbons, is located below the vessel, e.g. the pipeline. This solution of the invention enables leakage points on a pipeline to be quickly and reliably located.
