Safety device for a safety belt in motor vehicles, which has one attachment point in or on a vehicle door and a holding device, consists essentially of two switches which are actuated when the safety belt is subjected to tensile loading or when the door opening device is actuated and only supply a release signal to the holding device when they are actuated together. As a result, rapid recovery of a vehicle occupant involved in an accident is made possible.
