A method for the manufacture of a tapered tubular element, and also elements formed according to the method, in which, as a first stage, a tubular element, which has inwardly directed profilings 2, 2', 3, 3', after which the said elements are placed over a core with grooves milled out in order to receive the said profilings 2, 2', 3, 3' and moreover presenting a tapered shape, which essentially corresponds to the internal shape of the tapered tubular element that it is proposed to manufacture. By means of hydraulic and/or pneumatic compression, distributed over the surface of the tubular element by means of at least one flexible compression element, which is located so that it encloses the tubular element, a tapered shape corresponding to the core is then imparted to the said element, the reduction in the diameter of the element being accommodated by modification of the shape of the profilings 2, 2', 3, 3'. The element thus produced is advantageously made from a material with through-perforations or from a mesh or net- shaped thread material. <IMAGE>
