PURPOSE:To improve the S/N ratio at readout, by recording a couple of inverted magnetizing information adjacently on a magnetic recording medium and extracting the differential output of the inverted magnetizing information at reproduction. CONSTITUTION:A pulse is given to a winding 3 of a magnetic recording head 2 having a pair of rectangular magnetic poles 2a, 2b opposing with each other at a gap G on the contact plane to the recording medium to form a pair of rectangular patterns A, B opposing with each other at a distance in response to the gap G on a magnetic layer 1a. At the readout, a light from a light source 5 is irradiated on a recording medium 4(1) via a polarizer 6, a lens 10, and a beam splitter 7. The reflected light receiving the right or left Farady rotatory polarization in response to the magnetization of the domain of the layer 1a is received at a photodetection system 9 through the beam splitter 7, and the differential output is extracted. Thus, S/N ratio is improved in this way. |
