PURPOSE:To obtain a solenoid of good efficiency by such an arrangement wherein plural pieces of excitation coil are connected in parallel and at least one of those coils is equipped with a switch for opening and closing a circuit, and all electricity to be consumed is converted into mechanical energy by causing the switch to operate by the depth of suction of a movable iron core. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic solenoid 10 is composed by connecting 2 pieces 11, 12, of excitation coil, No.1 and No.2, in parallel. No.2 coil 12 is connected in series to a detection switch 3 for detecting the depth of attraction of a movable iron core. Next, the coil 10 which is connected in parallel is further connected to a source of power 5 through a control switch 4. By composing like this, when the switch 3 is closed, composite attracting force of the two coils 11, 12 can be obtained, and the switch 3 is opened at the time of such condition wherein only small attracting force is reqired, and a desired attracting force can be obtained by reducing the amount of power to be consumed. By this arrangement, a solenoid which is most suitable for a rotary solenoid, electromagnetic clutch, etc. can be obtained. |
