MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having high corrosion resistance even at high humidity and a long life, by forming a ferromagnetic metallic thin film contg. O on a nonmagnetic substrate and by sticking a corrosion inhibitor contg. a dicarboxylic acid as a principal component on the film. CONSTITUTION:A ferromagnetic thin film of Co, Co-Ni or the like contg. O by 3-45 atomic% of the amount of the magnetic metal is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate such as a polyester film by vacuum deposition or other methods in the presence of a very small amount of gaseous O2. A corrosion inhibitor contg. >=80% dicarboxylic acid such as nitrophthalic acid or succinic acid is stuck on the surface of the thin film by about 0.5-500mg per 1m<2> of the resulting magnetic recording medium by applying a soln. of the inhibitor or by blowing vapor of the inhibitor. Thus, the magnetic recording medium having high corrosion resistance even in a high humidity environment whose temp. is considerably changed and superior durability is obtd.
