PURPOSE:To attain the conversion of scanning line number easily, by reproducing a video signal added with a synchronizing signal and a header signal having a scanning line number conversion code representing the scanning line number converting information. CONSTITUTION:A tracking servo circuit 79 picks up a tracking control reference signal and outputs a tracking error signal to a tracking coil 77. A demodulated digital signal picked up from an FM demodulating circuit 81 is impressed to a decoder 83. A digital video signal reproduced in time series is applied to a scanning line number converting circuit 87, the scanning line number conversion code is reproduced, the mixing ratio is changed and the conversion of the scanning line number is made possible.
