PURPOSE:To save excessive memory capacity and to reduce the amount of work for the operator, by changing the data readout method of a memory device in response to the line density of a remote terminal to be communicated and setting the line density arbitrarily. CONSTITUTION:A picture signal read from a scanner 1 is encoded at an encoder 2 at each scanning sequentially and stored in a memory 3 with synchronizing signals being clipped with the picture signal. The conditions of transmission are set in matching with the remote terminal and a fill is provided so as to be matched to the specified minimum transmission time of one scanning line. Thus, a line density conversion circuit 4 is provided at the succeeding stage of the memory 3. A line interface 5 including an MODEM and a communication control circuit transmits signals for one scanning line's share in the order of the synchronizing signal, encoded data and the fill. |
