<p>The machine is for scattering material such as salt over a road, and is mounted on a lorry load platform. It has a material storage hopper joined to a frame, at the rear end of which is a movable scatter member, to which the material is delivered by a conveyor. The member and the conveyor are driven by a wheel resiliently-mounted on the frame and spring-loaded against the road surface. The wheel (23) is mounted in the central vertical longitudinal plane, and is coupled to the frame (22) by a longitudinal supporting arm (21).
