PURPOSE:To eliminate the difficulty in hot rolling in a continuous casting system for feeding a continuous casting ingot directly to a hot rolling mill, by compensating the temp. drop of the ingot owing to a decrease in the casting speed upon ending of casting by regulating secondary cooling. CONSTITUTION:The casting speed is decreased in order to draw the molten metal in a casting mold 5 after solidified the surface of the molten metal in the mold 5 throroughly; therefore, the temp. of a continuous casting ingot 6 decreases down to the degree at which hot rolling is infeasible at the point of the time when the ingot enters a hot rolling mill, and the continuous casting ingot which cannot be hot-rolled directly is produced in a continuous casting system of the type for feeding the continuous casting ingot directly as it is to the hot rolling mill. The production of such ingot is prevented by predicting the above-mentioned temp. drop when the continuous casting operation is nearly at the end point, regulating the cooling of the ingot 6 in a secondary cooler 7 with the arrival of the beginning end of the ingot 6 corresponding to the length L of the continuous casting machine at the set position in the lower part of a a secondary zooling zone as a trigger, and cooling said part to about the temp. at which the infeasibility of rolling is prevented when said part enters the hot rolling mill. |
