PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of any welding defect such as blowhole, by heating the rust preventive paint film on the surface of a steel plate applied with primary rust preventive paint thereby removing the volatile matter therefrom prior to welding of said steel plate. CONSTITUTION:The heating of the rust preventive paint film on the surface of a steel plate prior to welding may be usually at about 40-500 deg.C because the thickness of the paint film is generally of about 10-30 microns. A gas burner, IR light, hot wind or the like is used as a heating means to heat the paint film surface forcibly. The volatile matter (moisture and solvent) in the paint film is thus thoroughly removed and the generation of any blowhole, etc. in the stage of welding is easily prevented. |
