Mobile unit is intended for producing clean (potable) water by filtration of surface water, e.g. from ditches. It comprises an enclosure contg. a rotatably driven cylindrical body having a perforated outer mantle and a co-axial perforated inner mantle whose respective inner surfaces are covered by filter material such as filter cloth. The dirty water is fed into the inner mantle from above whilst the enclosure is provided with a bottom outlet connecting with a collecting tank for clean water. Used as mobile surface water filtration unit. The unit is of simple and compact design and lends itself to installation on a truck or barge permitting its use at different locations.
