PURPOSE:To lengthen spark discharge continuing period of time upon igniting and improve the ignition property of the engine by a method wherein the low- pressure as well as the high-pressure coils of a booster transformer in the capacitor discharging type ignition device are wound around a common core together with the primary as well as the secondary coils of an ignition coil. CONSTITUTION:The primary and secondary coils 201, 202 of the ignition electric source coil 1, provided in a magnetic generator, are wound around the core 205 together with the high-pressure coil 204 of the booster transformer unit 2, serving as the ignition coil also. Both ends of the secondary coil 202 are connected with an ignition plug 3. One end of the high-pressure coil 204 is grounded and the other end thereof is connected to the one end of a capacitor 5 for ignition through a rectifier 4 consisting of a diode. The anode of a thyristor 6, operating as a semi-conductor switch for controlling the discharge, is connected to a connecting point between the diode 4 and the capacitor 5 and the diode 7 is connected in parallel to both ends of the thyristor 6, while an ignition signal generator 8 is connected between the thyristor 6 and a gate cathode. |
