PURPOSE:To obtain predetermined effective picture information, by detecting the effecive picture information start position toward the main scanning direction with consecutive black signals and then consective white signals incoming in the main scanning direction. CONSTITUTION:A transmission original 1 is photoelectric-converted at a reading circuit 2. The converted signal is inputted to a consecutive black picture element detection circuit 3, and the count of black picture elements is executed at a black picture element count circuit 4 only when the result of output represents consecutive black picture elements. The count value is compared with the output of a reference set circuit 5 at a black picture element comparison circuit 6 to monitor the consecutive state of the black picture elements. Similarly, the consecutive white picture elements in the main scanning direction are detected at a consecutive white picture element detection circuit 7, a white picture element count circuit 8, a white picture element comparison circuit 9 and a reference set circuit 10. Based on the output of both the comparison circuits 6, 9, an effective picture information start command circuit 11 detects the consecutive balck picture elements at first and then the consecutive white picture elements and outputs the effective picture information. |
