A portable base part (1) with at least one contact part (2) is brought into direct or indirect contact with a wheel or guide spindle, and defines a reference plane (4). On the base part is a pivotably located component (7) with a spirit level (8) a scale (14), and a viewer (13), one of which is fixed relatively to the reference plane, and the other relatively to the pivotable component. In this way, with the spirit level set at zero the angle between the reference and horizontal or vertical plane is indicated. The reference plane (4), scale (14), and the pivotable omponent (7) are so adjusted to each other, that the viewer (13) indicates the angle as zero when the reference plane with the spirit level (8) set at zero remains vertical.
