<p>PURPOSE:To efficiently regenerate a particle collector, by previously setting a condition when a throttling operation to the intake air is needed to regenerate the particle collector during an intake operation, and by collecting the starting time and the ending time of a throttling operation to the intake air in accordance with the operating condition of an engine. CONSTITUTION:Carbon particles and others contained in exhaust gas is caught by a particle collector 5 interposed between exhaust pipes 4 and 6. In such a device, when a controller 19 recognizes that the particle collector 5 reaches the time to be regenerated while the engine is operated, it discriminates whether the number of revolution N of an engine, detected by a number of revolution sensor 21, is higher than the predetermined value Na or not. Throttling to the intake air is started by an intake air throttling valve 8 by the intermediary of a diaphragm 10, when the value N is N>=Na, and at the same time, the condition, that the load to the engine detected by a load sensor 20 is less than the predetermined load, is continuing for the predetermined time (about 20sec). Afterwards, when the value N becomes N<=Na, or the condition, that the load to the engine is more than the predetermined load, is continuing for the predetermined time (about 10sec), throttling to the intake air is stopped.</p> |
