PURPOSE:To shorten the time of a grinding cycle, by turning on an operating switch to rapidly move a grinding wheel forth toward the inside surface of a workpiece and thereafter turning off the switch and starting the multi-step grinding cycle on the basis of the position of the grinding wheel. CONSTITUTION:An operating switch is pressed to rapidly move a grinding wheel 20 forth to a position corresponding to the inside diameter of a workpiece W, to enable to actual rough grinding of the workpiece from a first grinding step. As a result, the number of grinding steps is reduced and useless dressing is avoided. If the pressing of the operating switch is not undone when the rapidly moved quantity A of the grinding wheel 20 under the pressing of the switch has increased to be equal to a roughly ground quantity D2, the distribution of pulses is stopped and a jump is thereafter executed to a step for transfer to fine grinding so that the time of a grinding cycle is shortened. |
