PURPOSE:To make it possible to facilitate blending operation, remarkably promote growth of domestic animals and reduce offensive smell of feces, by supporting microbial cells useful for decomposing and digesting feed components on vermiculite made into a porous form by high-temperature treatment and blending the resultant additive for a domestic animal feed with the feed. CONSTITUTION:An additive for a domestic animal feed, formed by supporting bacteria, capable of decomposing components in the domestic animal feed and fermenting and decomposing organic substances contained in excrementitious matter on vermiculite made into a porous form by high-temperature treatment, cultivating and multiplying the bacteria and containing the vermiculite as a substrate. Examples of the above-mentioned bacteria include lipid hydrolyzing bacteria, cellulolytic bacteria, organic substance decomposing bacteria, mucilaginous substance decomposing bacteria, antifungal bacteria, proteolytic bacteria, bacteria having hydrogen sulfide decomposing and nitrogen fixing action, hemicellulose and pectin hydrolyzing bacteria, Bacillus subtilis, etc. |
