PURPOSE:To aim at decrease in a strap lead quantity as well as improvement in the battery performance, by making up a plate group in a way of welding a lug part of the plates converged at the specified position and a pole column together. CONSTITUTION:Both negative and positive plates are clamped so as to cause each of plate lug parts 3 to be overlapped by welding devices 12 and 12'. Next, a pole column 6 is mounted endways on a step part 13 of the welding device 12 and then seat parts for the plate lug part 3 and the pole column 6 are welded together upon melting with a burner. With the plate lug parts 3 brought into a state of being overlapped, size of the plate lug in overlapped state comes to be smaller than the width of a plate group as a whole. Therefore, the pole column 6 can be stood on the same level with a strap 9 so as to meet the inside dimension of the cell jar. |
