In order to keep the gap between the guide vanes (15) of the axial flow turbo-engine and the housing (4) of the stator, forming the outer limits of the flow duct (17), as small as possible, cover rings (21), undivided in the circumferential direction, are used, which are centred in relation to the rotor (14, 15) by centring wedges (22, 23). The centring wedges (22, 23), which engage in centring slots of the cover rings (21) arranged on the end face, are in turn fixed in the housing (4) in the horizontal parting plane and in a plane of symmetry of the housing (4) perpendicular to the former plane. The material for the cover rings (21) preferably has a relatively low coefficient of thermal expansion. By means of the new design, the gap between rotor and stator and hence the flow losses can be reduced to a minimum without increasing the risk of the rotor blade tips brushing on the cover rings. <IMAGE>
