Aliphatic amines of medium chain length are obtained by reacting epsilon -caprolactam with an amine of the formula RNH2, in which R denotes a straight-chain or branched, saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon radical having 10 to 14 C atoms and, if appropriate, by further reaction of the resulting compounds with a methylating agent or with ethylene oxide or propylene oxide or glycidol. These compounds and their acid addition salts with toxicologically acceptable acids have a bactericidal, fungicidal and algicidal activity. |
