PURPOSE:To provide easily a silencer with excellent silencing performance in which upper flow communicates to lower one with a plurality of bypass paths in a main flow path by forming the bypass path with a spiral path defined by an elastic spiral partition wall. CONSTITUTION:This silencer comprises a cylinderical body 7 forming the outer periphery and a spiral tubular body 1 fitted therein and is interposed between flanges 18, 22 of an exhaust pipe. The spiral tubular body 1 is formed of an elastic body such as rubber, resin, etc. and provided on the outside of cylindrical portion 2 integrally with at least one spiral partition wall 3 while provided on both ends of the cylindrical body 2 with a plurality of openings 5, 6. On the other hand, the cylindrical body 7 is constituted from a cover 8 made of metal or the like and having a flange 10 and an inner layer 9 of rubber, resin, etc. bonded to the inside of the cover. And the interior of the spiral tubular body 1 is made a main flow path 16 by the assemblage of both members 1, 7, and a spiral space defined by the spiral partition wall 3 is made a plurality of bypass paths 17 to communicate to the main flow path 16 through openings 5, 6. |
