A device to be used in a plant for materials in track form, in particular in thedescicating section of a paper machine, to facilitate the application of edge traction by deploying a belt positioned near the edge of the track and coated with an adhesive on the side facing the track. The cross section of the belt comprises two parts, a thicker one made from a rubber material with trapezoidal protrusions designed to fit into the envelope surface of the desiccator cylinders, and a thinner one, preferably less than 5 mm thick and made from a plastic material such as polyamide, polyester or polyurethane with a typical thickness of 0.5-2 mm. The thin portion is arranged with the thickness decreasing towards the centre of the track and the adhesive coating covers 25-75% of the width. The adhesive is preferably a starch which allows the track and the belt to be sepd. at the end of the desiccator. The adhesive is applied to the belt immediately before it makes contact with the paper track. The belt should be warm, preferably above 50 deg.C and the dryness of the paper track should be excess of 4-%. |
