PURPOSE:To simplify the measurement of bearing force of the ground by a method in which the ground to be measured is excavated by the screw auger of a device having an oil-pressure-driven cone on its top, and after the excavation, the penetration resistance is measured in terms of the operating oil pressure taken then and the penetration distance of the cone. CONSTITUTION:A screw auger 1 is penetrated into the ground to be improved for excavation and stopped at a given depth, and oil pressure is sent in the direction of arrow 6 to an oil-pressure jack 2 by an oil-pressure pump (not illustrated). Then, a cone 4 connected to a piston 5 is penetrated in the direction of arrow 7 to a necessary depth, and the calculated values of soil penetration resistance qC are plotted against the depths on the following equation and then connected by folded line to know the bearing forces of the ground in the depthwise direction. qC=QC/A (where QC = the area of the piston 5 X oil pressure = the penetration force of the cone and A is the bottom area of the cone 4). |
