PURPOSE:To distribute light uniformly to all of plural connected optical fibers, by connecting >=2 fibers to a main body or providing plural holes for connection on the main body and covering the outside circumferential face with materials having a low refractive index or a reflective film. CONSTITUTION:A main body 1 is formed with transparent glass or plastic into a ball shape, and plural optical fibers 2, 3, and 4 are attached, and one optical fiber 2 of them is used as a fiber of optical signal source, and light is distributed to other two optical fibers 3 and 4. The main body 1 is provided with plural holes 5, 6, etc., and other optical fibers may be connected to these holes to distribute the light to them. When distribution is not required, these plural holes are closed by inserting dummies 7 or the like consisting of materials having the same refractive index as the main body 1. The main body 1 has the outside circumferential face covered with materials having a low refractive index or a reflective film 8, and the light is dispersed or diffused sufficiently in the main body 1. |
