PURPOSE:To provide a printer which is simple in composition and capable of positively performing selective movement of a type plate in vertical direction at all times by such an arrangement wherein a vertical drive mechanism is installed to a carrier member on which type plates are mounted. CONSTITUTION:Lift gears 32, 32 are fixed to shafts 34, 34 which are supported to be rotatably by the rear plate 7 and the left and right side plates 8, 9 of a basic carrier 10. A motor pulley 35 is installed to the rear end of one shaft 34, and another pulley 37 is interconnected, through a toothed wheel, to the other shaft 34 which is directly driven and rotated by a vertical drive motor 36 installed at the back of the rear plate 7, and a belt is threaded over between the pulley 37 and the motor pulley 35. By the operation of the vertical drive motor 36, both lift gears are synchronously rotated, and by the rotation of the gears, a desired type plate 29 is caused to operate and ascend to a print position from its standby position. |
